Hitachi Hosts MFG Day Event at the Columbia Memorial Space Center
MFG Day Shines Spotlight on Local Manufacturers, Highlights Career Opportunities
Downey, CA, October 4, 2019: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. and the Columbia Memorial Space Center are joining forces to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry by engaging youth around Los Angeles County, inspiring and recruiting them to become the next generation of manufacturers through Manufacturing Day (MFG Day).
This event will showcase manufacturers, education programs and workforce needs in the region. Hitachi, Ltd. partners with the Inspire STEM Education and others in the region to support STEM and Diversity programming. Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. will have their Inspire STEM Education Outreach Program there as well. Inspire STEM Education Outreach Program’s (www.inspirestemeducation.us) mission is to inspire the next generation of innovative science pioneers through the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and math. Our program inspires kindergarten to graduate level students with the tabletop scanning electron microscope and maximizes the learning experience with the best practices and resources from our work in the field as well as from collaborators and partners in education and business. This is all pulled together by the Columbia Memorial Space Center’s mission is to ignite a community of critical and creative thinkers. The Space Center is meeting its mission every day and in a variety of ways.
MFG Day, an annual national event held in communities across the country, is supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents and community members at open houses, plant tours and more to change perceptions of manufacturing and highlight the high-tech and innovative companies that are solving tomorrow’s challenges today.
First held in 2012 by its founder, the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, MFG Day is now organized by The Manufacturing Institute—the education and workforce partner of the National Association of Manufacturers. The kick-off events around the country and month-long initiative gives manufacturers the opportunity to address the skills gaps they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the industry as a whole.
