Dr. Shawn Handran’s Outreach
Fremont Christian School is a private school located in Fremont, California. Their instructor, Dr. Shawn Handran, teaches AP Biology, AP Statistics, and their Biotechnology classes. The Biotechnology classes are feeder classes into the excellent Biotechnology program at Ohlone College. Dr. Handran works very closely with Dr. Issel-Tarver to give the high school students all the tools, and even a step ahead in way of credits earned, for them to excel in the Biotechnology field.

Dr. Handran, a microscopist himself, was extremely excited to show his students the TM3030. He opened the Biotech classroom to all the secondary students, approximately 350 students. He stated that he happily spent many hours on the instrument and was able to excitedly inspire the students to also run various samples on the TM3030.

Dr. Handran shared the images taken on the SEM over his personal Facebook and social media pages, where a number of parents and other educators were incredibly impressed with the children’s use of the TM3030. Dr. Handran stated that the children loved the experience and he was very glad to be able to bring this type of nanotechnology to them.
